Sanchez: Your Majesty, there is no need for that. The desert will claim many souls before we even reach there.

Herrera: are you an idiot, Sanchez? Claro que si, but we can just bomb the hell out of them from the air!

Sanchez: the Elders will not like it...

Herrera: the old putas start to forget what makes us strong. Corsairs do not think what they can or cannot do. They simply do. How do you think I got this kingdom, huh? I killed enough pendejos barehand to make the others shut up and start calling me "King". And those who didn't... Well, you know yourself why this court is black, literary and figuratively.

Sanchez: and I am happy to be on your right side, my King. Your butchering your way up is an inspiring example for all of Crete. However, you did not ascend wasting your manpower. And striking from the stratosphere will definitely cause yet another war with the north. We do not really care about the men, we have plenty of pups who still haven't completed their rites. The loss of equipment and spacecraft, however... We are not planning to give the desert scavengers even an iota of our scrap, are we?

Herrera: as much as your insolence angers me, you have the point. Makes sense for you to be a warlord. Fine, your King listens. What do you suggest?

Sanchez: a small group will swoop in, use subterfuge to get in and then...

Sanchez: weeeeell, this is an enticing option. Alternatively, they can simply use their unrivalled charisma backed by blazing guns and swinging blades to convince emir to concede. Moreover, I just happen to have a few candidates to pull it off with minimal losses for us.

Herrera: is that so? Who are these hombres y mujeres? Do not tell me they are also from the whelps with no rite of initiation completed...

Sanchez: of course not, my Lord. Please, let me introduce them.

Sanchez: here's the next one. Adrian Seth. Skilled, reliable, doesn't talk much, gets the shit done no questions asked. Somewhere in his mid-thirties, tall, slim, good shape and health. Can fight on the ground and in space. Moreover, apparently, he is not one of ours. A Gaul, perhaps? His accent is not thick but gods know what hole he crawled from. He doesn't tell, I do not ask.

Herrera: Ha-hah! And his face! Did you spray him with molten metal like your maid, what was her name, Katarina? You old fox, Sanchez, I like your sadistic traditions...

Sanchez: I dare say, my Lord, that was not my work. He came like that. Must be a veteran who has seen some stuff. If you think he is a spy - he is not, we checked him. Clean, no Cardamine. He was indispensable during the recent mine incident. Remember those pendejos trying to seize the gold shipment in Fuenta Ventura? He butchered them all together with Quiet Jorge. In fact, the latter was quite fond of this Seth, and you rarely hear praise from Jorge. Two men killed twenty eight in close quarter combat. And those weren't miners only, either. Some of those were goons from the North with history. A true bloodbath it was, just as you like it. He also fought in space. His "Praetorian" made a huge hole in one of those ugly husks the zoners call "Nephilim"...

Herrera: Bien, you sold him to me. If the man shoots zoners en masse on "Nephilims" you do not have to say anything else. *mutters* Damn I hate those space hobos... What was his rank? Ah, whatever. Make him a centurion. Let him join the team with the others, and tell Guzman to provide him with equipment and men. I trust you on this and although these men theoretically are expendable, I do not like expending MY resources, you hear me, Sanchez? If they fail you will go scouting the desert yourself!

Sanchez: of course, my King. All preparations shall be done. Do not worry, I swear on my life we will succeed.

Herrera: they'd better... Now, out! The King needs some time to think.
