"We would not want to upset Niki now would we," Doc stated with a smile as they continued walking. "And do not worry, no matter where Med Force One is, it will still do its work. We just view Omicron Theta as a safe haven for it. Baffin is equally safe here and the TAZ folks get some medical care while it is here."
He appreciated her being so relaxed around him based on her giggles. It had been some time since someone of the female persuasion had felt that comfort around him. Doctors often didn't get that as it was believed that they were always trying to find something wrong. Well, those critics weren't wrong as it was a natural thing for a doctor to do. Keeping her walking a bit allowed her new skin to flex and feel more natural.
Once they arrived at her quarters, he found himself standing before her door with her in between. "Breakfast in the morning aboard Med Force One....it is a date. I think you will find where we had dinner tonight to be equally impressive with breakfast. With three shifts going, it is always lively although the piano only gets used toward the evenings."
The first kiss that she gave him was largely ignored to even unnoticed. This one got a little more attention. He stood back a bit and gave her a look. It wasn't the first time a female patient kissed his cheek for services rendered but it meant more from her. "Holliday, I think she likes you" resonated through his head.
"I shall see you in the morning," taking her hands in his and giving them a gentle caress. He released them and went to his own quarters.
In his quarters, he poured a Scotch and sat at his computer. Pulling up her file, he just nodded and released her as a patient and released her to full duty as well. He then reviewed a transmission, downed his Scotch and went to his bed. As he lay with the blanket pulled up, he looked over at the picture on his nightstand of him with Midori. He grabbed it and held it before him with a light smile. He also remembered not so long ago when he was able to see her one last time in her afterlife.
"You did say, Dah'lin, that it was OK to move on."
He put the picture down and drifted off to sleep.
