Yesterday I managed to set up a recruit for battle in nothing short of record time. 10 minutes from the moment he logged on in NY, and he was fighting off a BHG with the rest of us in a fully equipped Odin. Either way, you guys could use a more efficient setup mechanism than "bring your own money and/or stuff". RHA gives out 25 mil (not including the razor, nuke mine and debs they get from armoury) to everyone who joins, so they can get the standard issue loadout, ship, armour, bribes, the works. It's not like we are swimming in cash, but I and a couple other people simply donate what we trade up. More often than not I am getting called by other members about that they would like to donate cash to the armoury, and as such the machine is constantly rolling.
Unarmoured and underequipped RM rookies would've been in RP if this was still Niemann's Rheinland, but it no longer is:PPerhaps you guys could use a few reforms to the ol' recruiting and paperwork station?
Blodo, ever since May 23rd I've been actively helping in the recruitment process in the RM. From that date to now (2 months) we've processed 29 applications. Three from those weren't accepted. 26 pilots x 25 million credits make 650 million credits. That's quite a lot of money.
If a guy is so new to the server that he hasn't a trader set up yet, we'll try and help him out setting up his ship. In the last three weeks I must have given away some 150 million credits in equipment and money to new people so they properly set up their ships. I don't agree with giving money to established players, though. If someone that has the means to do so, won't put enough effort to set up a fighter for a faction they've chosen to play in, it's likely they won't put enough effort in playing that character altogether. Remember that the RM isn't involved in piracy. The time an old member will spend trading would be much better spent being around and training the new guys.
Donations to the faction have been instituted recently as part of the requisite to advance in its hierarchy. However, even considering that we'd still be short on money if we were to finance everyone. Specially when you consider that the natural thing is for a player to give up the game or the faction after some time.
