These are horrible things that have taken place, and my heart goes out to all those effected.

These tragedies in Morocco and Libya are a constant reminder of how frail life is. Taking in the recent earthquake in Turkey, with all three being Mediterranean-flanking countries emphasises a moral obligation for humans to better themselves in how they can live in areas subject to seismic and volcanic upheavals.

The tragedy is not only in the vast numbers killed but that so much was well within the providence of men to mitigate. The dams in Libya were well below par. So were the buildings in Morocco and Turkey. I don't believe in luck, karma, or fate but I do believe in chance and providence. The earthquakes and heavy rains are chance. The effectiveness of dams and buildings to withstand such disasters is what man provides (providence) or does not.

Was it Allah's will these people die? Poor theology to say it was.
