A New Life for the Broken Bird

Doc dressed in his usual black robes and hat. On the whole it would be just another day. He did look forward to his breakfast date however in which he would use as a start to getting Isabella to a life of normalcy with her work. While he had no surgeries scheduled for the day, he was on-call.

He went to his com system to check messages as he normally did. It was quiet this morning which was a good omen. Only a reconnaissance report of a Gallic Navy base in Baffin crossed his desk but for the moment, he wasn't worried. His only instructions were to "leave them be and see what their intentions are later." Then, the screensaver showed up of Isabella. For a few moments, he just stared at it. His conscience started working on him.
"John Henry you cannot hide this forever," he said to himself. He then stood up, made a final check on his robes, headed out his door and went to Isabella's cabin.

As he approached, he saw her standing there with Niki on her shoulder. A smile crossed his face. For the moment, her back was to him.
"Now that is different," he said to her smiling, "black, red and pink."
She then turned around and he read her shirt. He kept his laugh under control as he started.
"Hug me I am a psychologist, eh?" he repeated as he read with a chuckle. He paused in thought and then laughed again. Finally, he just looked at her.

His guard dropped a bit with the humor. "I do not mind if I do, Miss Isabella."
He then gave her a gentle hug. He could feel her as he did. He felt his guard drop just a little more but realized that there were others about although no one paid much mind to them.
Still, he had her in a light embrace.
"You look silly but lovely this morning," he said softly to her, "let us go get some breakfast."
