After several days of hard work, patience and team effort, the prototype engine has finally been installed and integrated on Excommunicado. Even thou, captain Smith’s nervousness about the engine, he has already sealed his faith long time ago and he has already decided his next step!
There is only one thing that has to be done now: The test drive!

From many years, for the first time in his life, Captain Smith felt fear. Fear that is consuming his mind, crushing his heart, blinding his senses and numbing his body, but his courage and bravery remained untouched!

He gathered his crew and ordered them to listen very carefully of what he’s about to say.

Erwin Smith: All right everybody, open your ears and do not try to change my mind, after what I am about to say!
-E.D.E.N. has detected the new engine successfully! There are no errors on the installation, the Core adaptation is also successful, the system seems to be fully operating on 100% compatibility with the engine and what is left now, is the Test Drive!
-Even thou I know some of you from many years and some of you from a few days, I still know that some of you will disagree about my decision. I have been through a lot in my life and there’s no need for anyone else, to be sacrificed for the mistakes I have done in my journey.
-The fact that the Operating System of my vessel shows 0% failure, I will not bargain with your lives or take any risks, to endanger you or to make any of you suffer a fatal death, if something goes wrong during the test drive. So I have decided to operate Excommunicado for the test drive, alone!

*The crew is shocked by what they have heard and while looking at their captain with disbelief*
*Some of them were trying to change captain Smith’s decision and change his mind*
*A huge commotion started raging among the crew, all of them were worried for their captain*

Chief Frankie: *shouting* SILENCE! THIS IS AN ORDER, THAT YOUR CAPTAIN HAS GIVEN YOU ALL! I COULDN’T CHANGE HIS MIND AND I DOUBT ANY OF YOU COULD *Frankie calms down*
-If something happens to captain Smith, I will be taking his place, with a new ship already prepared and on a standby.

*Captain Smith continues to speak*
Erwin Smith: I have been flying Excommunicado for many years, I know my ship to its very edge and I believe It will not fail me!
-But still, I would appreciate if all of you have faith in me, even thou It might be for one last time.
-The power core of the engine is four times greater than the old one, so… Everyone, evacuate the undocking deck and relocate to the central tower of Syros Shipyard. It is possible that the ship might explode while lifting off, so the tower is a safest place, but the deck will be completely wiped out with me along side it.

The crew quickly makes its way to the central tower, while captain Smith waits for a signal from Chief Frankie that everyone is safe, so captain Smith can make his way to board Excommunicado, but he couldn’t wait any longer, so he boarded his vessel and briefly waited inside the control room, counting the passing minutes and nervously awaiting for the signal to arrive.



After a while, through the radio communicating device, Chief Frankie gives the signal and Captain Smith wastes no time. He closes his eyes, says a prayer and quickly inserts his hand in the Identification system of the ship.
The Identification is successful: E.D.E.N. starts the operating system and waits for the captain to press the “Start Engine” button. Captain Smith musters up his courage, closes his eyes and says a prayer, then presses the button and the engine immediately starts running. Excommunicado’s system runs without an error, the power core is not overheating, everything is normal.
Captain Smith was still afraid, but he closes his eyes again, says a prayer and his courage gives him a push, then he proceeds to step on the throttle and Excommuncado moves forward with immense speed, successfully undocking from Syros Shipyard. After several hours of testing the new engine, flying in close proximity to the Shipyard, Smith is finally reassured that the engine is fully functioning and safe to use, he docks back at Syros to pick up his crew and set sail towards Omicron Nu with several tasks at hand and a mission yet to be completed!
