Beginning log entry 001.

This marks the start of Project: AKHETATEN's operational reports. As ordered by Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen, the Project's lead, and with oversight by Commander Howard Stone, the Project's second-in-command, every important detail regarding the Project is to be documented here. The technicians tasked with setting up these logs took a while to get everything properly set up - personnel access and what not - I expect a network such as this to be quite complicated to set up the proper permissions for. Whichever the case, I'm the one tasked with filling in the gaps ever since the A-0's commissioning.

Ahem, let's get the basics outta the way.

Vessel name: LNX Akhetaten, commonly referred to as the "A-0" prototype of the "Akhetaten"-class battlecruiser line.
Commissioning date of the vessel was May 1st 803 A.S. with a modernization period between December 28th 824 A.S. and July 12th 827 A.S.
The vessel was decommissioned on October 6th 830 A.S. to receive a retrofit that begun on the same day and lasted until September 29th, 833 A.S.
Space trials took place between September 30th 833 A.S. that lasted until October 5th 833 A.S.
Upon successful completion of all space trials, the A-0 prototype was fully operational and ready to enter active duty. She was commissioned on October 6th 833 A.S.
The vessel's motto remained unchanged; "Ex Umbris".
The vessel's current, as per the recording of this report, affiliation lies with the Liberty Navy Forty-Sixth Fleet.
The vessel's hull number is AXN-0, detailed explanation to follow;
- A for Akhetaten-class.
- X as a prefix to indicate a non-mainline ship.
- N for Navy.
- No. 0 to indicate the ship being the first in its class.
The vessel's serial number is LNW-NID-A-0, detailed explanation to follow;
- LNW for Liberty Navy Warship.
- NID for Navy Intelligence Division.
- A for Akhetaten-class.
- No. 0 to indicate the ship being the first in its class.
The vessel's leadership, as it stands in the moment of recording this report, is as follows;
Flag Officer: Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen.
Commanding Officer: Commodore Christopher Edwards.
Executive Officer: Captain Samantha Brown.
The vessel houses a crew of 510 officers with a skeleton crew of 80;
- 220 of those make up the crew mates which include bridge officers, CIC officers, senior and lower officers.
- 60 of those are marines.
- 150 are engineering crew.
- 80 are science crew.

Right. Now that that's outta the way, let's get to the operational reports so far.

The A-0 has seen many successes but also equally many failures in the field to date. The vessel has already, just with under a month of service, received multiple small-scale refits and upgrades. Even through that, the A-0 has been disabled many times by opposing forces during combat and we've certainly paid Norfolk one too many visits. The latest upgrade the A-0 received was earlier this week with the successful mounting of 3 Particle Pulse Accelerator Cannons - PPACs, in short - with the help of Detroit Munitions -- while the vessel has not seen combat after the addition of the cannons in her arsenal, our teams believe that they would significantly boost the ship's effectiveness in all engagements.

A particularly problematic feature of the A-0 is the exposed drive core located between the primary capacitor and the primary engine. While the secondary shielding system, that is generated by the electromagnets in the form of drive fins positioned at 90 degree angles around the core, was designed to withstand fire from all known weaponry it has proven to not be as effective as expected. While shots that would hit the drive core have their energy severely dissipated by this backup system, it appears that the shock stresses suffered by this absorption as significant enough to damage the power core.

While further testing is in order to further identify the core of the problem, it is worth noting that the A-0 has already been rendered completely disabled through focused fire on the drive core by Liberty Rogue elements - whether those were a series of many lucky shots, or the Rogues have got their hands on intelligence suggesting the existence of this weak point, we do not know.

While the engineering teams aboard the A-0 have been busy at work trying to figure a solution to this major problem, our science teams have been studying our findings at the newly discovered - and recently dubbed - Earhart system. More information on this subject will be documented in due time, once we're able to figure out a few more things regarding it.

Log entry 001 concluded.
