Some slaves were treated fairly and well - I bet this would be a typical case for household slaves, but other slaves were treated harshly and nothing more than cheap and disposable equipment on plantations or mining colony on Albegna. And it was these slaves on Albegna who, instead of to be exemplary punished by the Benitez cartel, rebelled and sparked it all.

Not all slaves rebelled, but it was a sufficiently large percentage of them to cause all kinds of issues for the Outcasts. As written in the news, they even managed to secure some of the codes for Malta's defense grid because some Outcasts weren't considering them as a threat and their potential revolt as impossible.

I left the fate of the still loyal slaves undisclosed, so Outcast players can decide whether they naturalized their former slaves and accepted them into their families, or killed them. It also allows playing an Outcast, who is basically a former slave and proved themselves during the whole uprising.
