  My name is Kevin Pierce, a recently graduated pilot for the fighter escort service.
  My adoptive father, Philip Steiner, was ranting the other day with a member of the guild leadership and upon arriving from his routine transport trip of Niobium to Hudson, in our accommodation in Java, we argued and I said that the only way to change things is by getting involved in them, and nothing is achieved from the bridge of his transport.
  My parents died on Aland, they were good friends of Phil and he has raised me ever since, I have traveled with him, I have learned everything about the art of ship handling on asteroids, the use of jump holes not controlled by houses and one or two things about commerce and how not to treat people, I love him, but he is a bitter and debased old man and I want to prove him wrong.
  That is why I make this request, I want to be an active part of the guild, its decisions and its operations, protect my companions from the cabin of my Lhotse or feed them from the bridge of a Shishapangma.
  And I extend this request on behalf of my father, he also has to rediscover that solidarity and camaraderie have not died, that only needs someone to feed the flame to keep it alive.
