I received a rather unexpected message today from none other than Sailas Montgomery, my former director at the SLRC. It seems he intercepted a general inquiry I sent out, one that I thought would go unnoticed amidst the vast sea of communications that crisscross the galaxy.

Sailas has changed. His eyes, once filled with a spark of curiosity and a hint of mischief, now hold a steely glint, devoid of the life I once knew. His smile, once genuine and warm, now feels forced, a mere facade masking something deeper.

He's joined the Core, a group whose ideology stands in stark contrast to the values that once guided the SLRC. I find it perplexing, this sudden shift in his allegiance. Sailas was always a man of science, driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, not power or control.

Intrigued by his motives and the information he seeks, I've agreed to meet him for drinks at the Freeport 11 bar, an old haunt from our days at the SLRC. It's a risky move, but I feel compelled to learn more, to understand what has driven him to this new path.

I'll need to tread carefully, keeping my guard up and my wits about me. Sailas is a shrewd operator, and I'm sure he has a plan in mind. But I'm also determined to uncover the truth, to shed light on the mysteries that shroud the Pulse and the forces at play in the Sirius Sector.

This meeting could be a turning point, a chance to unravel the secrets that have eluded me for so long. But it could also be a trap, a carefully orchestrated ploy to ensnare me in the Core's web.

I'm prepared for whatever comes my way. I've faced far greater challenges in the past, and I've emerged stronger each time. This time, I'll be more vigilant, more cautious. I'll play their game, but I won't let them dictate the rules.
