You guys are over reacting - the laws seem well written, they are just a RP guide anyways. You can't go after your own Indies and all demands need to be reasonable as you are using pirate line only. Anything the laws write you could do regardless without them - they more or less function as a self policed restriction on what you can do, they give you no extra lines.
