The repairs to the engine were finally completed just as a fleet of three battleships, twelve cruisers and thirty guardians appeared on the dreadnoughts scanners.

The cruiser fired several missile salvoes before charging it's cruise engine and running hard into the gulf between systems.

The fleet chased for a few hours before giving up when their nav computers nearly crashed, which would have stranded them in the gulf.
