Coming up now on the first quarter of operation of our laboratories, we're very happy with the progress we've made. The first class of students has settled in well, and we expect the first publications on our research to be released within the year. Manufacturing output has recuperated most of the investment already, but is also posing a problem we can't realistically solve without expanding the scope of our operations: Space.
There simply isn't the room at the Laboratories to house a full campus, and operate the smelters and refineries that form the other half of the operation. Needless to say, it's logistically difficult to integrate inviting promenades and gardens that make for a productive learning environment with heavy industry.
So we are looking to construct an annex to the facilities in which we can focus on heavy industry without interrupting our academic work. Preliminary funding should be secured by Kishiro, although we will be looking into possible additional grants from outside. The annex would be connected via shuttle service to the main installation, but receive shipping separately, and its operation would be managed via a branch subsidiary.
