Guten Tag Oberkommando.
Yesterday, I have been ordered to undergo a routine training then patrol exercises in the Sigma-15 system.
I met with Leutnant Holzner at Freeport 8 and began our training exercises in the surrounding space, involving basic and advanced flight trainings. Korporal Beist met us near the end of our training, and went ahead with the patrol shortly before we wrapped up our exercises and began our patrol as well.
Shortly after starting our patrol near the Norddorf Asteroid Field, I received a priority message from Korporal Beist, indicating the sight of a Freelancer Bustard class Civilian Carrier, identified with callsign 'The Boot', inside the Pellworm Asteroid Field. Leutant Holzner and I immediately divert our path to Pellworm to provide back up, as both of us were flying the Revenant bombers and were better equipped against a potentially hostile capital ship.
Korporal Beist reported the carrier has entered a gravimetric anomaly, which according to the our database, appears to be a jump hole to Sigma-17 system. Beist followed suit moments before we arrived at the coordinate. We decided to follow Beist into the jump hole to render any necessary assistance. A rare fluctuation to the jump hole's integrity caused significant stress to both our ships during the transit to Sigma-17 system. My ship was shaken violently but held up, however I was not able to immediately identify Leutnant Holzner's coordinates upon exiting the jump.
My ship's system, likely due to the unusually strong interference and stress during the transit, was scrambled. After successfully rebooting some of the basic functionalities of my vessel, I received a signal from Korporal Beist and the coordinates of Leutant Holzner identified via his LIDAR. Following Beist's instructions, I immediately approach Holzner's coordinate and found out his ship was completely disabled, likely due to the unusual stress during the transit. Holzner ejected safely, and I beamed his escape pod onboard and closely monitoring his conditions.
I was not able to detect anything beyond short-range sensor, and the reported capital ship 'The Boot' was nowhere to be found. Communication with Beist's ship was also unstable and difficult, but I believed Beist has returned to Sigma-15 system via the jump hole. Considering our situation - we lost Holzner's bomber, our sensors weren't functional, my ship was damaged, and the carrier's location was unknown, I decided to flew back to Rheinland space and ensure Holzner received the proper medical treatment and attention.
Fortunately, my ship also endured the transit back to Rheinland space via the jump hole. However, repeated jumps using jump holes caused further damage to the ship's system, communications logs and guncam footage seem to be corrupted and lost. The ship's black box and computer were handed over to the relevant specialists in case any information could be recovered.
Für den Kaiser! Für das Volk! Für Rheinland!
Hochachtungsvoll,
Werner Baumann
