The Nature of Nomad Infiltration

I am curious about this bit, though:

Maybe this is a whole other can of worms, but I'm curious about how absolute that secrecy is? I had figured that at least the mere existence of the Nomads, sans specifics, was not hidden knowledge to the general public in the present day.

There's an argument to be made that the Houses would want to cover up their failings, helps that some people forgot. If the masses of average people within the Houses knew the whole truth, there'd be mass panic. Generally speaking, us lot in space are the minority of people who could potentially have an idea of what it's really like out there. I doubt colony news would highlight the existence of aliens so profusely.

You could also argue that many influential organisations within the Houses are quite happy with the status quo having been shattered as a result of the colony wars. A crisis presents opportunity.
