I think you're skipping over the incorrectly. The point being made, I suspect, is that a lot of people weren't actually infected but instead were Thralls, and these Thralls - when the mindshare was disrupted - started acting mostly normally again, making people believe they'd been cured of infection, when in reality they were never infected.
I didn't, my question was about the few who actually had an alien worm inside when the Mindshare collapsed. How did they make it through and become Wild? Did they remain under control and flee into the Omegas and elsewhere?
