Raised on New Tokyo as the son of a prominent Kusari military officer, Taka spent much of his early life with harsh discipline and rigid structure, taught that loyalty to the state was all. While these lessons were drilled into the boy (sometimes harshly), it did alienate him from his family, especially his father and fill the young boy with a sense of loathing towards the state he was being sworn to protect. Taka was raised with the expectation of joining the military to follow in his family's footsteps, but a fateful encounter would play an unusual hand to Taka. In his early teens just before being sent off to a boarding school and then onto military academy, his father hired him a tutor to help with his education and further his martial training.
The Professor hired to Tutor young Takaharu never arrived, as he was abducted by the Blood dragons on route. The Dragons sent one of their own instead, with plans to infiltrate the Sato household and either eliminate the head of the family or gain any useful intel. Shortly after arriving the dragon agent found a young, determined but highly disgruntled young man who hated his own family. Seeing an opportunity and seeing a burning spirit with the boy, the Dragon instead opted to teach officially and in secret train Takaharu the history of the Blood Dragons and their ideals, showing the young man respect and that his life was his own to command and that the unofficial government had warped his father into the man that he is today. Over time the young Taka started to refer to his tutor as Ojisan, and came to idolize the history and spirit of the Dragons, even as going so far as to take classified documents from his father’s personal files at Ojisan's request.
Even after the official end of his tutoring and his life at young officer's academy, Takaharu still maintained contact with Ojisan and also spreading the ideals taught to him to selective classmates who felt as he did. By his early twenties Takaharu was set to become a junior officer in the KNF when he was informed that Ojisan had been captured in a raid conducted by Kusari intelligence and that he was being transferred to a prison outside Kusari. Fearing for the only person he trusted and cared for, Takaharu appropriated a navy fighter and rushed to intercept. Unfortunately, this had all been a trap laid by KNI after several breaches in security had pointed to the Sato family and an increase of BD propaganda had caught KNI attention at the officer school Takaharu attended.
After arriving at what he thought would be a good place to intercept the prison transport, several KNI fighters descended upon Takaharu. Realizing that he had been fooled Taka vowed to take as many soulless curs with him as possible. Just as it seemed that he was doomed a lone BD fighter intervened taking out 2 of the KNI pilots and giving Takaharu some space, it was his Ojisan. The two fought against the many, a deadly dance that left a few more destroyed or badly damaged KNI ships but the tole was being taken by Taka and Ojisan. As KNF reinforcements moved to surrounded them Ojisan transmitted a set of co-ordinates to Takaharu and ordered him to flee. Before getting a chance to respond Ojisan charged the reinforcing line of ships and detonated his ship and its supply of mines blowing a hole for Taka to escape.
Following his last wishes Taka quickly fled the scene of battle and managed to loose any perusing craft. Eventually the co-ordinates led him to small gathering of Dragons who knew of him by Ojisan.
