I was contracted to help navigate the "Stork", a Crayter Republic transport during it's extraction of former slaves towards Planet Yuma. It seemed the Independent Miners Guild had similar goals of freeing the slaves. As a situational alliance goes, we combined forces. This was a good call, as not long after GNI forces tried to ambush the transports in Tau 23, but our scouts were able to defeat them while we continued our convoy.
The combined convoy had no further issues on our first run. The Stark itself managed to deliver it's first batch of 4300 refugees. The second run turned out to be way more difficult however. The Outcast fleet had arrived. And they were many. Slaves escaping was not on their agenda it seemed.
Waiting was no option, the Outcasts were closing in on the Freeport themselves, so we had to make a daring plan to rush in with our transports while the combined Crayter and IMG fleet distracted the enemy. We managed to break through, as our Combat fleet gave them hell. It was a double edged sword however...
While we escaped the Freeport with our newest batch towards Yuma, final comms of our fleet being decimated followed our travel. They were getting slaughtered to save the many slaves we were transporting. Crayter and IMG lost many good men, but it was nothing compared to the lives they saved. Reaching Baffin, the main comm channel became uncomfortably silent. Not knowing if the enemy would manage to catch up to us. Trying to distract ourselves, we counted our ships in the transport fleet. It seemed we lost one of our transports, The Constellation, during our chaotic escape. Many lives were lost with that ship, but there was nothing else to do but to continue.
During our final clicks, our crews tried to remove the silence by chatting with our neighbouring ships. We got along well with "IMG-Ian.Walcott and the =CR=ILL-Aquaria. When we arrived at Planet Yuma a second time again, the "Stork" managed to save another 4300 slaves, making a total of 8600. There was a sigh of relief, but no celebration. Our crews decided to get toghether at the bar of Sabah Shipyard and try to lift our spirits.
