What is your story – A small character biography: Early Life (798–823 A.S.)
Klaus Steiner was born into a prestigious military family in Hamburg, Rheinland. His father, a decorated officer in the Rheinland Military, held significant influence, and Klaus was expected to follow in his father’s footsteps. Growing up in the shadow of the Rheinland Nomad War (800–801 A.S.), Klaus witnessed firsthand how the influence of the Nomads destabilized his homeland. The government’s secrecy surrounding the Nomad infestation during the war left deep scars on his family and the nation. Despite these revelations, the Steiner family continued to serve in Rheinland’s military, though with growing doubt about its integrity.
Military Aspirations and Family Tragedy (823–828 A.S.)
By 823 A.S., Klaus entered the Rheinland Military Academy, where he began his formal education in military strategy, though he remained untested in actual combat. His father, still loyal to the core principles of Rheinland but disillusioned by its leadership, began investigating rumors of continued corruption within the military—rumors that suggested surviving Nomad-influenced factions still held sway over certain elites.
In 826 A.S., after his father came too close to uncovering the truth, he was framed and executed by Rheinland officials under false charges of treason. This event shattered Klaus’s faith in the military and set him on a dangerous path. Shortly after, his mother was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Fearing for his life, Klaus knew he had to flee Rheinland.
Escape and New Alliances (828 A.S.)
Klaus used what remained of his family’s connections to arrange a clandestine escape. With the help of the Zoners, an independent faction known for their neutrality and willingness to help those who oppose house governments, he was smuggled aboard a freighter bound for Freeport 11 in Omicron Delta. It was here, during his exile, that Klaus learned of a secretive group known as The Order. Whispers among the Zoners spoke of an elite unit, Eclipse Vanguard, dedicated to fighting Nomad threats across the Sirius Sector.
Intrigued by their mission and motivated by his desire to take revenge on the alien force that indirectly destroyed his family, Klaus sought to make contact with the Eclipse Vanguard. However, lacking proper combat experience in actual engagements against Nomads, he knew he wasn’t ready to join immediately.
Seeking Training with the Order (828 A.S.–Present)
Now in the Omicron Delta system, Klaus has taken up residence at Freeport 11 while seeking to prove himself worthy of The Order’s cause. His goal is to gain the skills necessary to combat the Nomads and, eventually, join the Eclipse Vanguard. The Zoners have provided him with some basic survival and piloting lessons, but Klaus understands that confronting an enemy as insidious as the Nomads requires much more than tactical theory.
While his experience in the Rheinland Military gave him a strong foundation in strategy and navigation, Klaus now searches for the specialized training that only The Order can provide: counter-alien warfare, survival in hostile systems, and the discipline to fight a war in the shadows. As he prepares for this next chapter, he remains determined, fueled by the desire to one day face the Nomads and the corrupt powers in Rheinland who aided in his family’s downfall.
Personality and Legacy
Klaus Steiner is a man hardened by loss and betrayal. Although born into a family with military prestige, his trials have forged in him a fierce independence. He does not seek revenge for personal glory, but rather a chance to restore balance and prevent the alien forces from corrupting humanity further.
His ultimate goal is to join The Order’s Eclipse Vanguard and play a key role in the struggle against the Nomads. Until that day comes, he is content to train, sharpen his skills, and prepare for the challenges ahead, always keeping his eyes on the stars and the greater war that awaits.
