I have a question I've been meaning to ask for a while now, probably a couple of years, but I never really felt the need to make a thread about it until now. Unsurprisingly, it’s a question about PvP. After all, it’s probably my favorite part of the game and the main reason I’ve stuck around for as long as I have (I mean, shit, 11+ years).
Regardless, the question I want to ask those who take the time to view this thread is fairly simple:
Why did you never become good at PvP?
Don't take it as I am throwing a jab at anyone in particular, I really don't mean it in an insulting manner. I am just curious of the following things:
If you’ve never tried to become good at PvP, why?
If you’ve tried to improve but stopped somewhere along the way, why?
I’ll reserve any and all judgment, as well as my own personal opinion, on this topic.
Well, why do I never get good in PVP? I think I am halfway usable in a Cap PVP if it's in a fleet engagement. In a 1v1 I Mostly Lose the fights against more Experienced Players. But to be honest I never really cared about this. For me, PVP was never about this 1v1 Feeling or the Blues. For me, it was about flying out with Friends and having fun and Delivering a good Fight. If it was with the Navy Folks of the 46th or the Ladies of the GC- I always had more Fun about a PVP when I was part of a Groupe. Whether we Won the Fight or not, was not so important to me. Sure to Win always feels nice but it feels always better in a Team, and a loss always is easier to endure when you can Rant over your opponent together afterward (Be Honest we all do that).
Another Part of why I never became "GOOD" in PvP was that the First Faction I ever Joined was OS&C. I always Played Disco more for the Roleplay Factor than for Simple PEWS. Hell, I am sure all the stuff I have written here over the years could fill more than just one book. I mean I have RPs with People that now run for several years, I met Friends in this game, I made enemies in this game, Hell I even exchanged Christmas Packages with some people. The people that I met in this Game have Helped me through some of the Darkest Hours of my Life. They were there for me as no one else Could. I say to me personally the PVP is not so important, but I know that there are people who this is an important part of their Game Experience.
As a Mostly Trader Player, I have to say that what I enjoy as PVP the most is when I get attacked by a Pirate and Manage to Escape. Or hell even manage to shoot down the Pirate. I will never forget as I have won a 1v1 Against a Bomber in my PALACE LINER. But I also enjoyed it when I met another Player in the Middle of Nowhere in the Omicrons and what began with a Simple "Helo" Developed into an Hour Long RP that sent me on a Journey that could last for months, or even just one Glorious Evening of Wonderfull RP with a Stranger. That's all I have to say about PVP and why I never got good at it. Not sure if this is helpful to anyone, but I had the feeling this is what I should write about this Topic. To all of you out there in the Stars of Sirius and Gallia who Shoot Lasers, Railguns, and Missiles at each other I want to say just one thing, Have fun folks.
