The Scarman Enigma

Tyrant Scarman looked down at the trapped figure beneath his foot. Admiral Scarman looked up at him defiantly, a spark of rage glinting in the mans eye. The Tyrant released his grip and kicked his alternate self hard in the ribs. The Admiral doubled over as the wind was knocked from him. Marcus began to jog across towards the open hatch of the Thunderhawk. He ducked as a barrage of fire strafed the deck close to his feet. The survivors of Admiral Scarmans team were consolidating, the nearest one firing directly at him.

Connors, Marcus yelled as he dove to the deck, I need covering fire.
He fired his blaster from his hip, scoring a hit on the marines shoulder. As he climbed back up to his feet however, something barreled into his back, knocking his weapon from his hand and throwing him to the deck. He reacted quickly however, rolling over and throwing his attacker to the side. The troublesome Admiral was back, a look of menace across his face.
What have you done with Victoria! The other man growled, reaching out for the Tyrants neck. Marcus dodged his alternate self and brought his fist up into the mans stomach. The punch was weak, but it distracted the other Marcus Scarman long enough for the Tyrant to make his escape. He ducked out of reach of his assailant and clambered to his feet.

Connors fired from the hatch, sending rounds hammering across the hangar at the other marines. Marcus made a run for it, ignoring the yells from his counterpart. The Admiral hauled himself up and broke into an unsteady run, chasing the Tyrant across the hangar. Tyrant Scarman was too fast however and sprinted up the loading ramp just as Admiral Scarman scooped up his carbine. Connors slammed his fist on the door controls, bringing the ramp swinging up with a slam. Scarecrow didnt even get chance to fire off a single round before the doors were sealed.

Inside the Thunderhawk, Scarecrow and Connors made directly for the cockpit, stepping over the still unconscious forms of Heather and Victoria.
Punch it, Marcus growled as the two sat in the control seats. Within seconds Connors had the engines warmed up and ready to go.

Outside the Thunderhawk, Admiral Scarman watched helplessly as the engines began to heat up. The whine of their growing power reverberated throughout the hangar. Marcus was forced to take a step back, shielding his face with his arm as the Thunderhawk lifted off the decking. It swung around on the spot and fired several blaster rounds into the hangar bay doors, punching a large hole in the hull. Air began to suck from the hangar bay, dragging everything along with it. Marcus dove to the deck and began crawling back to the prone form of Admiral Wilder.

With a sonic boom, the Thunderhawk tore from the open hangar bay, blasting out into space and sucking half of the hangars interior with it. Marcus stood up and dove to catch the limp body of Jayce Wilder as the sudden suction lifted him off the deck and dragged him towards the exit. The two men connected in mid air and fell to the gridwork with a thump. Marcus pinned Wilder to the deck with his own body, saving him from the howling winds. In what seemed like an eternity, Marcus held Jayce steady, praying that someone would raise the external forcefields. His wish came true as the winds died down, an energy field humming into life around the open wound in the hangar bay doors.

Marcus relaxed and looked down at Jayce. The man was horrifically wounded, burns and sears from the turret covering most of his body. Marcus leaned back in despair as he finally saw the extent of the mans wounds.
Medic, He turned and yelled to his surviving marines, I need a medic here now!
As he turned back however, a strange thing began to happen. An odd glow began to form around Wilders wounds. Marcus watched the strange, flickering phenomenon coalesce into one ever growing hue. Small bands of energy began to writhe and flicker around Wilders body as the strange glow throbbed, like the beating of a heart. To Marcus utter surprise, Jayces wounds began to heal.

The strange coruscating energies began to die down as Jayces wounds knitted themselves fully closed. Sat in a stunned silence, Marcus watched the prone body of the Admiral for a moment. Wilder took a deep breath, as if waking from a long coma. He flicked open his eyes and stared directly at Marcus. Scarecrow found himself rooted to the spot as he stared back, unable to break his eyes. Jayce Wilders eyes were now a vibrant blood red, not once wavering. Marcus swallowed hard.
