Speaking from experience, the staff when it comes to quality of judgement and votes on sanction reports is only as competent as its most active/motivated member at the time. Someone who is capable of presenting their point of view on a vote or issue in a way that the others cannot (or do not care to) argue/oppose as long as the to-do list gets shorter.

So, yes, unironically go apply for the post yourself and don't fall into that particular trap yourself.
