I have spoken to many people over the last months about issues ive had in the community about others, about direct hate and general misbehaviour. Every chat I’ve had about things VR related resulted in me being asked to file them as reports, to which I did. Some are still ongoing. I have noticed that the Deterrence Conclave, DTR, seem to be immune to warnings, sanctions and bans.
Why?
They are active, sure. They collect new players like pokemon, sure. They have the single largest player base in the game, sure.
Does this make you exempt from the rules?
It shouldn’t, but I guess it does. I heard from someone that there were double figures of reports filed against DTR in the last few months. I even was a part of some of the fights that were posted as VRs, and they were as clear cut as ever. Let’s take one of them, the Noth case, as an example:
Noth were 6 ships. Covert Wilds, who RP as Mercenaries. Order intercepted them, with 7 ships. Nomads were involved, shooting Noth and Order (it is part of the RP of Noth. They shoot Aliens sometimes). 11 Corsairs jumped into Delta, while this fight was going on. A Nomad Cruiser got engaged by 10 ships. A Core Vessel also got engaged by the Corsairs fleet, but I can’t remember how many was dumped on that one guy. Once that Nomad Cruiser was dead, all 11 Corsairs engaged Noth. One order snub had died, making the fight 6v17. Almost every Noth ship died, those who didn’t had to run from the overwhelming fighting odds. After all Noth had left or died, Core fought the Order and Corsair combined forces and killed whatever remained.
From an Administrator on said case: “Apparently after Noth left the scene, all the Order and Corsairs were wiped out. That taken in conjunction with the fact that Noth is generally of a higher skill level than DTR and co indicates that the fight was winnable for you from the start…”
So. What you’re telling me is that the two (at most) that ran away from 12 ships (not certain if that was the numbers left or not) were able to win that fight? And the intervention of an external force makes a Gank all of a sudden not a Gank?
Coupled with the fact that this is hardly the first time this has happened with regards to DTR, the rumour that DTR can do no wrong and not be spoken against by anyone has been once again reinforced. Every VR against them that you choose not to act on that is clear cut breaking the rules is another example that’ll be added to the list of “staff protection of DTR”. Staff have gone from giving the entire community a warning, to actively telling the community that its okay for them to gank one force if they then get wiped out by the next fighting force.
On the whole, staff have not made all bad decisions. There have been things that will improve the experience of the game for several people. That rule change that was implemented is a huge bonus for me and others. No more stupidity in Capital assets so far out of ZoI /1 /2ing aliens. No more coalition in Zeta, no more Libdreads in Delta, no more Consuls, murmis, legates or tribunuses in Tau-61.
You have done good things for the community, but you are doing questionable decisions in protecting a faction that is producing alot of negative energy in their behaviours. Please stop protecting that one faction just because they have the biggest activity numbers. I am not asking you to ban them all, nor ban at all, even. Just remind the people who know better that they should do better. It isn’t all noobs, and some of the veterans of that faction are committing the same crimes as their newer members.
If you were as active at actioning on them as you were on others that you have in fights against DTR, then you’d have a far healthier community, because said faction would have learnt the hard way by now. So far, alls you’ve taught them is that they are the ones who have staff favouritism.
Would like to see this issue addressed, or at least commented on. Practice of double standards when it comes to enacting disciplinary action on DTR (read - the lack of thereof) is becoming apparent. Not a single faction should be exempt from the rules or standards, no matter how big or active.
