Biography:
Early Life
Born in 795 A.S. on the arid world of Houston, Ben Hislop grew up in a society shaped by the collapse of the Texas Incident and the rise of Deep Space Engineering’s Nanocapacitor factories. The planet’s population—largely ex-cons, drifters, and former inmates of orbiting prison stations—thrived on chaos and opportunity. His mother, a Bounty Hunters Guild enforcer, and his father, a Liberty Navy engineer, instilled in him a blend of pragmatism and defiance. By 15, he was dismantling scrap heaps for parts; by 17, he was hotwiring haulers to outrun Bounty Hunters.

Liberty Navy Service and LSF
At 18, 813 A.S. Hislop enlisted in the Liberty Navy, seeking escape from Houston’s lawless underbelly. Stationed aboard the Battleship Arkansas, a state-of-the-art Overlord-class replacement designed to secure Liberty’s systems, he served as a mechanic and deck officer. Tasked with overseeing the Texas penitentiary system and patrolling nearby frontiers, the Arkansas became Hislop’s proving ground. While Liberty deployed its fleets elsewhere, the Arkansas served as a refueling hub for Bounty Hunters patrols and a bulwark against piracy in the volatile Texas region.

In 822 A.S Ben Hislop was transferred from the Arkansas to Battlecruiser Lehigh, because of Hislop’s mechanical expertise and tactical acumen that made him an asset to the Liberty Navy operations he was recommended for transfer to Liberty Security Force. Tasked with securing critical infrastructure and countering alien infiltration, his role shifted from hunting Rogues in Texas to high-stakes missions, including deployments to Pennsylvania and Kansas , where he helped suppress pirate and Hellfire Legion activity. Hislop’s ingenuity in repurposing salvaged tech made him invaluable during the Scouring of Bering, where he assisted in dismantling Insurgency strongholds alongside the Battleship Concord.
The battlecruiser was then deployed to Colorado to guard the locked Kepler Jump Gate, but the real mission was to actually scouting paths through the Kepler's dark matter storm to find Jump Holes into Kusari. Hislop was tasked to make modifications to the Lehigh’s sensor arrays and thrusters that allowed the ship to navigate the treacherous environment. His work earned him respect among the crew and drew attention of the Order, a covert organization dedicated to eradicating the Nomads and Wild - Nomad-infected humans operating in secrecy.

Recruitment by The Order
By 824 A.S. the Order had identified Hislop as a critical asset. His improvisation during the Lehigh ’s operations in Colorado, including jury-rigging systems to survive the Kepler storm, demonstrated a rare blend of technical brilliance and battlefield adaptability. In 826 A.S. , the Order discreetly approached Hislop through a supply courier, offering him a role in their clandestine efforts to eradicate the Wild. “The LSF fights for Liberty interests. We fight to protect humanity,” the message read, including coordinates to a hidden rendezvous in the Sonora Ice Field.
Convinced by the Order’s mission and disillusioned by the LSF’s bureaucratic inefficiencies, Hislop defected. Stationed aboard the Atum, he quickly became a key figure in its operations against the Wild. His modifications to the Atum ’s systems allowed the ship to track elusive Nomad-infested vessels like the Battlecruiser Wyoming, which had evaded capture for years. Hislop’s resourcefulness in repurposing salvaged tech and his unorthodox combat strategies earned him a reputation as a tactician who could outmaneuver the Wild’s unpredictable tactics.

Arrival of the Hades Brigade
Shortly before the event on Sudbury, the 34th Order long-range expeditionary brigade «Hades» arrived at the Atum. They were ordered to accelerate the study of Sudbury Anomaly, to ensure the secrecy and security of the operation and Battleship Atum. Hades, a specialized unit focused on direct action against the Wild.

The Event on Sudbury
By 835 A.S. Ben Hislop had already earned a reputation as a sharp, unorthodox pilot within the Order. When the Liberty Security Force (LSF) launched its high-stakes operation to secure Site Alpha on Planet Sudbury , the Atum was deployed to monitor the system and track the elusive Battlecruiser Wyoming, a Wild-occupied vessel hiding in the South Ontario Debris Sea . Hislop, embedded in the Atum’s fighter wing, was tasked with intercepting enemy movements during the chaotic clash that unfolded.

As the Xenos launched a surprise assault on the LSF’s position—led by the Liberty Rose , an obsolete dreadnought—the Atum’s interceptors scrambled to contain the Wild threat. Hislop’s role was pivotal in the dogfights that erupted in the Georgian Ice Field , where the Wyoming attempted to flee. While the battle turned brutal, Hislop’s precision in navigating the icy debris field and his ability to outmaneuver the Wyoming’s fighter screen marked him as a reliable tactician under fire.

The Vagrants ’ sudden intervention—offering the Wild a chance to sever their Nomad mindshare and escape annihilation—forced the Atum to withdraw. Hislop, like many others, witnessed the Wyoming’s desperate retreat into Inverness , but his focus remained on covering the Atum’s withdrawal through the collapsing drive rift. His calm under pressure and calculated risk-taking during the evacuation did not go unnoticed.

Recruitment by the Hades Brigade
Following the Event on Sudbury, the 34th Order long-range expeditionary brigade “Hades” initiated contact with Hislop. The brigade, renowned for its science-force approach to combating the Wild , recognized his adaptability and battlefield instincts. Unlike the Order's sometimes rigid strategies, Hades valued pilots who could think independently and operate in volatile, uncharted territories.
