CYBERNETICS

"So - how does it feel?"

"Mmmh... uh, it's... pretty alright, I think. It's a lot better than the last one, that's for sure. The delay in my fingers is incredibly low, though. This is incredible."

"Here - try holding this paper cup. I need you to hold it steady - and be careful, please. I'm still not quite finished with the outer plating around your wrist."

"...No problem here. Oh, man, this is incredible. My arm isn't shaking at all...!"

"You're currently equipped with a Hepa model Mark III cybernetic device - we've come a long way since the first generation of augmentation schematics we inherited from the Omicrons. We adapted a lot of ideas from Kishiro's own cybernetic designs and improved them with our own ingenuity. And, look at you - not even letting go a single droplet of water. You're doing fantastic."

"This... this is great, doc. It's already starting to feel like my real arm again. Hey - what's with all the tubes inside my wrist, though?"

"Oh - that's only a necessary byproduct of chemically converted emollient containers - simulating human cartilage is no easy task, young man. But some particular carbon based oils can be extracted from hemoglobin molecules through a series of converters situated inside your fingers, and they are used to smooth out your more crucial motorized components. A perfect combination of hydraulics and pressurized valves, almost microscopic in size, working up the length of your whole arm, keeping your entire augmentation in working condition without much strain."

"Ss...so... does that mean you're using my... blood as grease oil?"

"Naturally. Unless you'd prefer to return here each day for augmentation adjustments?"

"No-n-no, that's fine with me, really. And - say, how do you even... like, keep the entire rig running, anyways?"

"A splendid question. We've optimized dynamo mechanisms enough to give your arm a small jolt of power - usually between 0.2 to 30 volts of energy, depending on the physical strength required for you to, say, screw a bolt, or open a jar. You have a rather lanky bodily build, and you're not with our Military Arm project, so you've been assigned to something less hefty and powerful, but equally straightforward and effective."

"Aw, man. So, does that mean I don't get to have a cool detachable wrist rocket arm?"
