In the Q&A it states that one can use an existing ship already, while not accepting posts posted before the 9th of june? Perhaps it's worded a bit confusingly.

Existing ships that are not yet in possession of the Wilds or the Nomads. As an example, an LN ship that existed since 2012 and had some merit of presence on the forums or inRP can still be used for purposes of this event, as long as its abduction happens between June 9th and July 6th of this year.

I've updated some wording in the rules to make it less confusing (hopefully).
