Esteemed Secretary of Defense McKay,

I do not believe we've been acquainted before, even though you likely know of me.

While I consider introductions to be of trivial importance, in the current context I believe it is nothing short of necessary. I am Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen of the Forty-sixth Fleet, Flag Officer of the Task Force Akhetaten. I come before you today to discuss matters that regard the Republic directly. Matters which the Government has unfortunately been stagnant towards, for reasons that are likely beyond my understanding as a mere Vice Admiral of the Navy.

Mister McKay, it is no secret that the Republic's well-being has been threatened multiple times over the course of history, and neither is it a secret that once the Republic responds, the resulting events are catastrophic for our opposition. However, there's been a distinct lack of reaction from Liberty over the last few years.

With our forces being withdrawn from the Ontario system, full control over Planet Sudbury has been given away to the Xenos and the Order who are working towards deciphering what alien technology lies on the planet's surface, opposed only by the forces of the Technocracy of Auxo, which are outnumbered and outgunned. As if losing the fight on that front wasn't enough, the newly formed Task Force Prometheus - so called Hellfire Legionnaires - are making bold advances towards our core systems, with multiple appearances as close as Manhattan. Merely a few days ago, they deployed an entire battlegroup within New York, lead by the HFB-Incursus with none other than Amy West in command.

Earlier during the same month, a wing of Task Force Prometheus fighters was spotted not far outside Planet Los Angeles, an encounter which ended with all Prometheus fighters being swiftly destroyed. Following the encounter, multiple unknown contacts begun showing up on long range scanners - contacts that would later on be identified as ships belonging to The Wild.

Clearly, the Republic's resolve is being put to the test over the last few years. I don't think I need to stress to you how important it is for us not to ignore such events and simply relate them to coincidences.

I've been hard at thought over the last half a year, Mister McKay, trying to come up with ideas. Solutions. A way to set things right without requiring major fleet deployments, and I believe I've reached the ultimatum that might be exactly what Liberty needs.

It is no secret that the LNS-Akhetaten, during her time, has seen multiple deployments outside Liberty's sovereign space, keeping close tabs not only on our enemies, but also on our allies. Over the multiple years of service the warship has, she has seen upgrades and refits that no other ship in Liberty's arsenal has undergone. Just a few years ago, Task Force Akhetaten was appointed to look after the warship due to her importance to the Navy, and I am now coming forth to you with a request that will elevate the Akhetaten's - and the Task Force's - importance even higher.

I am hereby requesting from the Government permission to extend the LNS-Akhetaten's - and the related Task Force's - effectiveness through establishment of unique rules of engagement.

Now, more than ever, the Republic needs a ship with the capabilities of the Akhetaten to keep track of, analyze, research and even obliterate possible threats to the Republic before they've grown to a size that demands the full Navy's attention. It is my understanding that in order to succeed in such a mission, the Akhetaten - as well as assets of Task Force Akhetaten, which always need to operate in accordance with the flagship's modus operandi - will need full operational independence, and permission must be given to us to take lethal action against anyone who will stand in our way while we protect the Republic's interests.

The Forty-sixth Fleet's command, in coordination with myself, will decide what partitions of Task Force Akhetaten will be assigned alongside the LNS-Akhetaten in her various possible deployments outside Liberty space, based on how much of the task force's assets are necessary to ensure the safety of our core worlds. It is to be expected that the task force's heaviest assets will always remain within Liberty space, not only due to logistical reasons, but also to maintain the mobility and low signature of the contingent that will operate outside Liberty.

Fleet Admiral Kemp-Smith, Admiral Aden Tanner, as well as myself will be made available should you require a hearing from us regarding this request. A carbon-copy of this transmission has been forwarded to the Admirals, for the sake of clarity and transparency.

Below I shall attach the two relevant reports to the events I very briefly mentioned during the beginning of this transmission, filed by Captain Samantha Brown, the Akhetaten's Executive Officer.

Report One - ▩
Report Two - ▩

I will be at your disposal for any further explanations or alternations to my request.

In service to the Republic.
