' Wrote:This causes quite the dilemma... originally I intended to have one STC in a system an float about in an undisclosed location above/below normal orbit, but now it looks like there should be one at every gate if possible, and in plain view to boot. and it would no longer be System chat, it would probably be group chat that gets changed every system. Each STC in a system belong to one group and as traders pass through, they join the group at the entry point and leave at the exit point.
I don't think the group thing would work; traders would have to leave their current groups (if they are in one, and many often are) to join yours. I think it would be better - but logistically difficulty - to PC each one who comes through. You'd have to be quick on the comm, though, and you'd have to scan each one to make sure you weren't actually talking to a pirate.
Another option is for you to be a traffic communications hub in each system. Be there at the gate, and let the trader ask you what current conditions are, or something along those lines. If the trader does it in system chat, they've already revealed their location, so you can feel free to respond likewise.
Edit: Btw, your ships need bumper stickers for pirate/terrorist situations: "If you see me cruising, try to keep up!"
