Hanamura's office was host to her in uniform in somewhat casual nature, feet propped up on the desk, eating a pair of roast beef and cheese sandwiches, and a side of au jus. A large meal, until you realize she had spent the past few days too busy to eat anything but small snacks. She watches from a catalogue of old shows from her youth, primarily from the 2000s and 2100s that her father had raised her on.

She would take a bite of one of them, finishing half of it off after an initial bite. She finds a guilty pleasure in being able to enjoy herself in such fashion, able to relax for once in what felt like forever. However, before she can enjoy more of the morsel, she hears a knock on her door which catches her both offguard with a brief shudder, and subsequent groan. "Why can't I just have a break.. who is it!?" she says, irritatedly.

A male voice responds - Kensington's. "Ma'am, the interview with Major-Aspirant Basinger?" He says, muffled by the door.

Hanamura runs through her mind before uttering a sigh, exasperated by her exhaustion causing her to forget. "Right -- proceed."

The door opens with Kensington and a Brown-haired Libertonian following behind him. Hanamura had since turned off her shows and put the food aside. The two stand before her and render a salute. She stands and renders the same salute before ordering them to ease.

"Ma'am, this is Major-Aspirant Nate Basinger--" Kensington says, before Hanamura is met by Basinger's hand to hers as she moves to shake it, him taking strong initiative.

"Nodoka Hanamura, to say it is an honor to be in the presence of living history, it is.. absolutely beyond just an honor. It's the opportunity of a lifetime." he says excitedly, before introducing himself. "Nate Basinger, PhD in Xeno-Archaeology, Pre-Colonization History and Dom'Kavash studies at Cambridge."

Kensington follows up. "Former DSE scientist. Briefly consulted on some LSF programs out at Prudhoe - he approached us since.. well.."

"Your story is a fascinating one, ma'am. Being frozen for 3/4ths of a Millennium - were it not for Major Song's affidavit with confirmation of trace amounts of xenon and polyvinylpyrrolidone in your skin when you and her met, along with the Alliance records of your birth and the reports from Project Homeland, I would think you were insane or a clone, but.. it's real." He says, the excitement not dissipating from the 30-something xeno-archeologist's visage.

Meanwhile Hanamura, long since having grown a bit tired of being Miss Exposition, proceeds to simply nod and give a smile. "We can talk about me later, right now - you are the star of this discussion, Basinger."

Kensington nods as he continues. "He'll be the one overseeing Task Force Nochiu-kanto. The expedition out to the Earhart Sector and research on Dom'Kavash artifacts for military and civil applications." he says, explaining the newcomer's purpose.

"Right. Quite the important role you have here."

"Of course, ma'am. I.. do have to say I'm impressed by how professional you keep things here - though your Military Science classes at Tokyo U must have worked wonders."

"Yes, yes. I do have to ask though, how equipped.. would you say you are for this role? What did you do at DSE?"

"Nothing too exciting, occasional Omicrons research projects that more or less amounted to stare at the same couple of rocks and tell us if they do anything or point us toward anything that does something. My experience with the LSF was much more exhilarating. Helping continue innovations on jump drive technology, the occasional nomad technology integration project. Everything one would expect from the LSF's research and development teams."

Hanamura nods affirmatively. "I see. That being said, have you been briefed on Nochiu-kanto?"

"Yes ma'am. It's to be a two month expedition onboard the ORS Nishashin, wherein me and my crew will undertake an exploration of the Earhart Sector in search of resources and intelligence of use to the cause. I do hope unlike last time, we'll be able to come back in one piece." Basinger responds, before following up. "I hope you won't find it a bit crass of me to say I personally wish I could undergo research on the situation in Coronado, with regards to the Jericho anomaly."

"I'd like that, but right now the Auxesians, Libertonians and Crayterians are all over it. It'll be there when you get back, and in the meantime we'll run analyses of the planet and vicinity to see what exactly is going on."

Hanamura continues on, looking to the two men. "Gentlemen, Nochiu-kanto is an important endeavor in pursuit of exploitation of potential Dom'Kavash and Slomon K'hara technology to our factions, and society's benefit. There is much out there that could win us the upper hand on the Keiretsu and their Kaigun hounds."

Basinger expresses a bit of concern. "I.. fear if we do pursue weaponizing this technology we could paint a target on our backs, especially from the house intelligence communities, the Auxesians.. possibly the Nomads themselves."

Kensington chimes in, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah. There's also intel we have from the XRT finally on the new Tau system, 61. It's riddled with squids. Vagrants or main hivemind, It won't bode well for us if we have them, and possibly Auxesia, breaking down our door."

"Auxesia has bigger problems. Like Maria Uhmen and Liberty's puppets in Crayteria if the Skidbladnir's SIFC reports are to be believed. And the aforementioned Jericho." Hanamura retorts. She looks to her display, and brings up the Nochiu-kanto Orders.

"This will be the first test in a long time of the old FTL communications system the Harpies left us with. I hope it will remain effective and we should be able to get a sufficiently decent connection between Sirius and the Earhart Sector for the duration of the mission."

"Surprised they still work." Kensington answers, folding his arms, before sighing a bit. "Can I be real with you for a second ma'am?"

Hanamura, remembering the incident on the Skidbladnir with herself, nods in affirmation.

"I miss Elena."

Hanamura nods again, affirmatively. "You and me both. Maybe someday we'll go visit her. I know Mieko got a chance to last year."

Basinger doesn't involve himself in the personal affair, looking around to show deference of the matter to the two. As they conclude, he chimes in. "Miss Graham aside, Is there anything in particular you are seeking out that we should focus on?"

"Other than general curiousities, anything that could aid and abet the cause's interests. Focus on anything that could bolster force mobility, projection and power. Especially if it could be a trump card against our foes." Hanamura states to the two, bringing herself to lean back in her seat once more, exhausted.

"That.. being said, I'd like you to reach out Basinger, to that Civilian research firm, The Starfliers. See if they may have any equipment for the Nishashin's endeavor." She says, looking to a picture of her family from home on the wall, replicated from data from her memories as a result of the Elysium incident. Basinger acknowledges her with a salute. "Yes ma'am. I do hope to talk with you on personal matters at some point. I'd greatly appreciate it."

Nodoka waves her hand a bit. "Yes, yes. We can discuss when you return. I assure you. Dismissed."

Basinger seems a bit dismayed, but doesn't let it faze him as he steps out of the office. Kensington follows suit. "Hanamura." he utters, at the doorway.

"Hm?" She says, looking to him from her chair, lounged.

"Promise me we're not over-exerting ourselves with this." he asks.

She nods. "I wouldn't commit 50 of our brightest and 40 on defense if I didn't. Numbers have been up on recruitment in recent months, don't you know."

He sighs, still looking out the doorway. "Yes ma'am." he says, acquiescing to the situation.
