I'm a bit lost.
I already have good transportation and a long but profitable route.
Would the next step be to set up my own base?

. .I would strongly recommend joining a faction who takes care of their own base, so you can learn how it operates before taking it on by yourself. Setting up your own player base is easy, maintaining it and the time investment required to do so is high. Also, sidenote, setting up a base may be a goal for some, but it is not a requirement to play this game . .
