Relevant Experience:
Over a decade running independent trade routes across the Omegas and Omicrons, hauling everything from high‑value tech and industrial alloys to medical supplies and basic survival goods. Comfortable navigating uncharted or politically tense systems and keeping crew and cargo safe under pressure, including transits through the Omega‑5 minefields and Omicron chokepoints. I’ve managed long‑haul convoys, coordinated with Freeport administrations for rapid turnarounds, and handled the occasional “unofficial” negotiation when paperwork wasn’t enough. Regular lanes included the Stuttgart–Omega‑7–Omega‑3 corridor to resupply Freeport 1, and deeper runs through Omicron Theta toward Freeport 9 and onward to Delta.
Background:
Jalen Voss was born aboard Freiburg Station in the Stuttgart system, the son of a docking supervisor and a freelance trader. Growing up amid Rheinland’s agricultural exports and corporate freighters, he learned early to read manifests, chart efficient lanes, and keep a ship on schedule. The rhythm of Stuttgart’s trade and the stories from outbound captains pulled his gaze beyond house space.
In his early twenties, Jalen signed on as junior crew with an independent hauler bound for the Omegas. Work took him through Freeport 1 in Omega‑3, Freistadt in Omega‑7, and onward to Omicron Theta’s Freeport 9, where Zoner merchants and explorers became steady company. The Zoner ethos of neutrality, self‑reliance, and freedom from house politics resonated; he traded rigid regulation for the independence, and risks, of the borderworlds.
By the time he took command of the Haulix, he was a seasoned long‑haul captain, equally at home negotiating docking rights at a Freeport or threading a ZBT‑1002 “Whale” through a half‑charted jump corridor. Contracts ranged from moving Stuttgart produce and processed goods outward to delivering critical spares and med‑stims to remote stations as far as Omicron Delta’s Freeport 11 and support runs toward Livadia Shipyard.
Reason for Joining:
OSI stands for what I value as a captain: professionalism, neutrality, and the craft of keeping lifelines open no matter the obstacles. I want to be part of a network that trades for profit and keeps far‑flung Freeports and research sites alive, whether that’s restocking Delta after a crisis or moving heavy components where they’re needed most. By joining the Trade Division, I’m looking to expand my reach, share my deep‑space experience, and contribute to the logistical excellence OSI is known for while upholding Zoner principles in every lane I fly.
