Revolt is the one that some of us in K'Hara are keeping an eye on for when Discord becomes too dogshit.
Heard of it a while ago, voice chat (and pretty much everything in-between) is still half-baked and likely will follow the same fate Matrix followed. Plus they only document how to deploy this through Docker, which is not great in terms of freedom. Ever since I first heard about this the whole project had a strong stench of corporate culture, which means it's bound to be proprietary by spirit rather than letter. I've also had a few convos with the people involved and they don't seem to care much about secure and private communication, go figure.
There's been something called Jabber for a long while for plain text communication, unlike Revolt this one does offer end-to-end encryption, there's multiple server and client implementations and there's plenty of documentation on how to host these even on a Raspberry Pi, think of it as email, but with XMPP rather than POP3/SMTP/IMAP.
