The surface, which had once been considered relatively stable, was now shaken by periodic earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. They ejected streams of hot magma, thick plumes of ash and deadly gases, plunging the planet into an endless volcanic winter.

A recently arrested agent of the Order could see for himself the harsh conditions of the planet during entry into the atmosphere, whose turbulence was an extremely annoying factor.
