One of the affected players has found a possible workaround

R3curse Wrote:move directplay8.dll from EXE folder to somewhere else (desktop or whatever)
Launch game (scaling will be messed up) and try to join multi. Game will crash.
Change render settings from dx9 to dx8 then back to dx9
Copy the dll back to EXE and launch game
