Is turning in the busted hawk mandatory?

As a fellow player pointed out to me, I now have a unique Hawk, which is rendered unique by its atrociousness, being worse in every statistical metric (edit: according to Darkstat, anyway), along with lacking guns or customization options. It might be fun to write a role-play story around getting scammed at the equipment ship dealer.

Mind, it is the fruit of the poisonous bug, so if the answer is "no, you shouldn't be flying that asset", I'll file the player request.
