Name:Lionel Thistle Gender:Male Age:39 Place of birth:Planet Los Angeles
Biography: My father has worked for Synth Foods in their shipping department, ever since he emigrated as a teen from Planet Denver. Mom met him while her family ship was sheltering at the planet while a Lane Hacker situation shut down system traffic for a few weeks. The ship left, and when it returned 6 months later, mom stayed and they got married. I arrived a few months after she moved in with father. I grew up playing around the dockyards where father worked, wanting to be on one of those ships one day, fed by stories of mom growing up on a ship. When I hit 18 I left to join mom's family ship, Thistle-Thatch, an old Mammoth transport, where I took their last name Thistle as my own. When Grandpa and his first son died shortly after the Gallic invasion of Bretonia (in an unrelated planet-side contract dispute), my unmarried Uncle became captain. He sold the old Mammoth, and bought one of the new Serenity transports coming out of Bretonia, naming it Thistle-down. I had worked myself up to first mate, where I've been the last seven years, and was happy to stay, next in line for the ship. I ran the vast majority of the day to day operations, with my lazy uncle only setting the routes.
That changed 5 months ago when I discovered that on every stop at Scarborough Shipyard for repairs and Super Alloy cargo, uncle had been seeing a local engine technician. Five months ago was when my sixty year old uncle brought her aboard with their surprise new baby boy. Don't get me wrong, I love my nephew, but with him on board there is no future for me as captain of the Thistle-down. I've amassed a nice nest egg of credits, but not near enough to buy a ship big enough to make a living off of.
I've taken the liberty of using current drop-off of Rheinbier and Liberty Ale at Planet Curacao to transmit this Captain Application to the Orbital Spa & Cruise recruiting department. I have the practical experience as a captain of a large ship across the sector, but have no ship to call my own. I've always enjoyed watching the OS&C liners and shuttles smoothly cruise by, I love the clean lines and crisp paint jobs. While it may be a sharp transition into a passenger liner from a transport, the better food will more than make up for any transitional difficulties I expect to encounter. We'll be back through Cortez shortly after a short trip to Planet Yuma, I look forward to hearing your reply then.
Please give a brief overview of your past work experience if any.
First mate aboard a Serenity class transport for the last 7 years, acting captain in almost every regard. I've flown extensively in all house space and independent systems except Gallia, along with many of the closer edge systems. I'm familiar with running a crew on a tight schedule and dealing with fussy border patrols.
Are you in possession of a criminal record within any of the 5 houses? If so, please explain.No.
Do you have a particular interest in any of Orbital Spa & Cruise's specific divisions?**
