Alistair Thorne had finished his daily walk through the production lines and gold smelting ovens. Satisfied, he returned to his office and began reviewing the latest reports from the Dublin mining operations. The first T-2419-U 'Archon' Modular Miner had been acquired after a fair deal was struck with Mr. Kiyoshi Namura of Impala Station. The Archon has officially entered the Dublin theatre, and the initial yield reports are exactly as projected. It carries less rock, certainly, but it actually moves when the thrusters are engaged. That alone makes up for the smaller hold.

Resolution Heavy Works has also made its first official hire. Mr. Edward Campbell has taken the helm of the new Archon. He brings BMM accreditation and a rather extensive history of surviving the debris fields of Leeds and Manchester. He knows how to work under pressure, which is exactly what RHW requires right now.

The real proof of concept came forty-eight hours ago. A Molly patrol tried to catch our miner in the BMM gold fields in Dublin during a standard extraction cycle. If we had sent one of our old floating bricks, we would have lost the ship, the cargo, and quite possibly the entire crew. Instead, the Archon’s agility allowed it to simply weave through the denser asteroid pockets, proving its value as the ship escaped before any harm could be done.

The gold smelting plant is back up to ninety-four percent capacity. The Focusing Chamber lines have all the raw material they can handle.

The machine is working.

“Charles?” Thorne called out without looking away from the reports. “Prepare the financial projections for a fleet-wide refit. And see to it that Mr. Campbell receives a commendation in his personnel file. He earned his keep this week.”
