"To a point that is what we agreed upon," he answered. Doc was enjoying Harlen's company. "Simple in terms of vows perhaps but think of where you are and the organization you are visiting. We have about two thousand just on this ship alone. Factor in Med Force Academy nearby and other hospital ships that will send large contingencies here or should I say, have sent."
He paused a moment, "Oh yes, and some invited guests? Neither myself or Isabella will get off without a big party." He put on a shy face. "And I was already told by my senior staff that they were going to go big with this so...."
He went somber for a moment. The comment of not being his first wedding bothered him. He rose to his feet and looked out a window. "I removed the pictures of my late wife but I will always have a place for her." He took a heavy sigh. "Isabella knows this and is OK with it. Somehow, even Midori is." Doc had to be silent on the power of the thrall within Isabella that allowed him to see her one last time.
"Father, just leave it at that."
He turned back around after he took a moment to collect himself. "But we will be fine. I am ready to give my life to her. I trust her. My children love her." He smiled a bit. "Besides, it is time for me to be happy again."
He sat back down before Harlen and shook his head. "I have no special requests of you. I have no prepared vows. They will come off the cuff but from the heart. I have practiced to myself several times what I feel and it comes out differently each time so we will see."
As Harlen rose to meet him, Doc took his hand in both of his own.
"Thank you for what you are doing. The House of Deux will always have a place here."
He released his hand. "If you will excuse me, I have a wedding to get ready for."
Harlen left but not before Doc got him a cart ride. Doc was again alone as he finished getting himself together. His hair had a wet look to it but was well groomed and he was looking in the mirror when he adjusted the bow tie of his tuxedo, complete with tails.
"John Henry Holliday, I hope you know what you are doing."
