Subject: Report - 3/22/836 | Battle near West Point
High Command, here I present my first report to you, both as a newly commissioned Lieutenant Commander, and aboard my new command, the Akhetaten-class battlecruiser Skidmore.
The Skidmore was recently transferred back to the Navy from Security Force command, apparently those spooks are finished having their way with her, now it's my turn. I am pleased to report that the transfer has gone over well. My quarters are getting redecorated as we speak, the commissary is restocked, engines refueled, and weapons re-tuned for maximum effect.
I had received a distress call from West Point Academy about a massive fleet of various colors gathering - Technocracy, Rogues, Hackers, Xenos, you-name-it. A response force consisting of our own vessels and our brothers in the First and Secondary fleets was already partially assembled when we arrived. We quickly linked up with the formation led by Captain Brown of the Akhetaten, and went to full alert for the battle that was about to ensue to dislodge the miscreants from West Point's defensive perimeter.
The order of battle was as follows:
Liberty Armed Forces & Allies
3x Akhetaten-class, with one in reserve, joining the battle as our forces were depleted.
1x Interdictor-class
1x Archer-class
At least two gunboats of various classes
At least 6 snubcraft of various classes
Enemy forces
1x Osiris-class
5x cruisers of various classes
At least two gunboats of various classes
1x Archon-class mining vessel
Numerous snubcraft
Summarized battle narrative
The battle began with our fighters breaking off to engage their fighters, in a large conflagration not far from West Point itself - I'm sure the cadets had quite a show. Our capital forces were advancing in fits and starts at first, as we were under pressure from their Osiris's long range guns, and with no battleships of our own to return the favor, we were at a significant suppression disadvantage. Due to the maneuverability of our fleet, however, most of the enemy shots flew harmlessly off into space. Their cruiser vessels acted as an angry swarm of wasps, picking at any of our vessels who strayed too far from the formation. Thanks to our Revenant-type prototype cannons, the cruisers could not press any advantage they created without taking serious damage. One cruiser, early on became separated from their group and was easily finished off by our forces.
As the battle raged on, we had realized we would not make any significant progress without taking out their fleet flagship, the Osiris-class. We had decided on a full-frontal assault of the vessel, acknowledging that this maneuver was risky and could cause serious damage to our fleet, Captain Brown of the Akhetaten bravely took point. The target was neutralized but Captain Brown had to retreat due to heavy damage taken in the process. We were moderately damaged by the assault but pressed on to finish off their remaining capital vessels. The battle ended with the remaining part of their fleet scattering, leaving our fleet with light-to-moderate losses, and our own ship with medium-to-heavy damage to several decks, primarily the engine bay.
During this battle, we attribute two kill-assists to our actions, including their Osiris-class vessel. Guncam of the battle and proof of our contribution follows.
Very respectfully,
LT CDR Julius A. Fox
