An attempt to communicate
Hail Admiral Fairfax,
My apologies, I suppose Bretonia might have been fairly sheltered to what was happening behind the scenes at the time.
As you no doubt remember Rheinland turned particularly beligerent 36 years ago; crushing the Kusari Navy, operating in Liberty, operating in and threatening war against your House, even going so far as bombing planet Sprague in the Omega-3 system.
The Order refers to this time period as the first Nomad war, it was when our founder, Orillion, defected from the LSF when he found out his own supervisor had become infected by a Nomad. It was also when Rheinland was controlled by the Nomads. Not to imply that every high ranking Rheinlander was under Nomad control mind you, but all it takes is a few in key positions.
At any rate, don't you think it odd that Rheinland suddenly turned as aggressive as it did? With technology noone had seen before that turned out to be based on Alien technology related to the Nomads? Doesn't that sound somewhat similar?
And for that matter, isn't it a bit odd how easy Rheinland was able to take down Kusari's Navy back then? Almost too easy even, as if they knew exactly where to be and where to strike?
Rheinland has since been able to purge the infected from their government and are probably the most vigilant of the Houses for this threat after their experience. Kusari has not been as fortunate.
The devices you have received are scanners we utilize to scan our guests and personel upon entering an Order or allied installation, years of finetuning and use in the field has refined the process to a science. They have very limited range though, they will do you no good out in space.
Even if these talks go nowhere in the end and we eventually deteriorate back to hostile relations, the tighter security can be against the Nomads the better.
Consider them a gift.
