Frankly I expected a no. A compromise, though, is already better than what I expected. While this nascent...friendship has barely begun, the olive branch is not ignorable. You're right. Everything would be better if we could set aside our prejudices and anger, if we could stand side by side as humanity, united in the shared idea of persistence in the face of annihilation and the hope of a better tomorrow. But at the same time, we would be forced to subjugate Sirius to that ideal. is that how far either of us would wish to go, though? The Order knows we will be the villains of history. We've done things you and yours have, but unlike the concepts of National Security, endless propaganda, and a refusal to bow to an oversight committee...we will be forced to become history's scapegoat. Despised. But we still fight. As long as humanity persists to hate us, then there's a humanity we have protected.

I don't look old. But I've fought this war since the beginning. I've fought a losing war again and again. I believe our fight only ends either when we finally die, or when we give up. I personally, Admiral Fairfax, will choose to die before I give up. If I am to die fighting the Nomads, then I will die leaving an everlasting wound upon the Mindshare. An ever-burning reminder of the courage of humanity. I will not give up. And I don't think you will either.

For humanity. Let's protect what we can, who we can. There's no use lamenting a unified Sirius we cannot shape. So let us look to what we can do.
