So the argument here is that pirates should be able to destroy any trader that does not halt when ordered.
I would think that this would remove the RP of the trader as his first instinct is to RUN.
If you can catch him, fine. Then make your demand and its business as usual.
This is how my pirate does things all the time.
Order to stop.
Fire a CD if ignored.
Made monetary demand.
Either get the money or blast him to 1% hull.
Ask again for money.
Either get the money or finish him off.
Why is this such a hard concept to understand. I have been doing this for almost a year now and never had a problem with it. Maybe its because I expect the trader to run and I am not so lazy to want the trader to come to me.
Keep this in mind, if its permitted for pirates to blast a trader to death for not halting then by the same rights any lawful can blast a smuggler to death without saying a word beyond Drop the contriband.
You want to complain about pirates having it hard. Imagine if you had to close to scan range and verify what he was carrying before even being able to order the target to stop. I have seen pirates make demands when the trader is not even in scan range. Pirates do not have it that rough here, I think its just that some pirates need to learn HOW to pirate and not expect people to just fall over then second that a pirate says boo.
