Q.1: Do you consider there to be one LN? Do you consider there to be one LSF?
- Yes, the same as with the other "military" factions.
Q.1b: Do you consider the "official' player faction as the authority in the systems that they have an interest or are said to own that system from the infocards?
- Mostly... Yes, they have collectively spent the time/credits and have the players/rp to deserve it.
Q.2: Do the unofficial players of the LSF and or the LN have to obey any orders given to them by official players?
- Yes, because in RL if you don't follow orders or the command structure you are discharged, goto prison, or are executed. In the case of stolen or misused hardware, either you give it back peacfully then goto prison, or they kill you and take it back. If they cant take it back, they will try to destroy it, hopefully killing you in the process.
Q.3: What are the benefits of obeying those orders?
- Not being shot or sent to prison. Having the support of the official factions AND the indys.
Q.4: What are the consequences of not obeying orders?
- Possibly starting a war, being exiled, being shot on sight, having no place to go and no one to back you up.
Q.4b: Are there benefits to not obeying those orders?
- There arent any, unless the whole point of disobeying is to start a conflict or to be made a target/martyr or to be discharged from service.
Q.5: Is there a place for official players to obey unofficial players orders?
- Yes, if an indy earns the respect and trust of an official faction member then in some cases they might take "orders" from an indy, maybe even a lower ranked one.
Quote:The dynamics should be one of inclusion, cooperation and mutual respect. It's possible for independent characters to work with the player faction, rather than clash directly against it.
This is very true and some indys do work well with the official factions. These you dont usually hear about because there is rarely or never anything to complain about from either side.
However, MOST of the time the official factions "freak out" the moment they see an indy in one of thier ships. Which provokes the natural response to being attacked or "rp bullied", a defensive and usually hostile posture twards the "attacker". Which usually just compounds the problem rather than helping it in any way.
The #1 problem is simple. Most of the time the complaints are about people who wont even read this because they arent on the forums. Any others are probably looking for the "drama", or maybe dont share the exact same ideas but still are atleast "trying".
