If you look at all the different ways they are treated through out all the systems & houses, their best hope is to be smuggled to Malta.
Before you say it..
They get fresh air ( Cardi enhanced at that !)
Addicted to a DNA altering substance that leads to:
Longer than average life span
Enhanced intellect & understanding
Ability to be more promiscuous ( no need for birth control! )
& if they good & work hard, a chance to be freed & become part of the society
( well.. if the grass don't kill em first, or a Don with a temper)
+ we won't use them as a Holiday meal like our odd ball cousins over in Gamma



On a serious note.. If someone with Uber RP skills comes along.. Starts a group or faction called the [RaSR] Refugee and Slave Rebellion ( or something like that) , find a system to work from, get ships yadda yadda.. & go about the systems freeing the slaves.. could be an interesting rp opportunity
