As a long time opponant of registration i thought i would make a post here as well::
I dont like the idea of registration - i dont believe GOOD players who, as noobl3t said do not break rules, do RP and have not been sanctioned should be forced to do it.
However, there is a middle ground here - that needs to be seen. If an indie steadfastly refuses to register thats their right, but they need to see also that the factions who do this also have the right to ask you to do it. (It's all in RP right?)
My corsair character is a cantankerous old stubborn corsair who is proud and a little traditional, he refused to register his ships... i actually Role Played his refusal/
Yet his ships are registered.... but he didn't do it:)(worked it out in RP)
The point is.... the middle ground is that i worked with the existing factions to do it, who in turn worked with me to allow me to stay true to my RP - it doesn't have to be all black and white and authoritarian. Indies like to be independent, true - and good for them, but does it hurt to work with the factions you play beside even just a little? If registering your ship makes them calm down and lets you get on with it......After all, when it comes to a fight, these are the guys who will fight with you, the people you will pm and ask for assistance, and the people you will assist - they're also the people you'll do a lot of your Role playing with.
Same with factions, sure there are a lot of bad eggs among indies, and, it frustrates the pants off good faction players to deal with indies who have no idea... that being said, a measured and patient response to these people cant hurt either.
