Lietenant James Flint jr sat on his bunk currently in a reworked storeroom on the Suffolk looking at the comm message (pm) he had recieved from the Admirality and wondered if his exile was over. He had been placed on independant duty (Indie) since his Father had been quietly tossed out of the BAF for bucking the Royal Line. Independant duty was an officers worse nightmare. You got the worst berth on ship. Your entire existenance was to fill in where ever the fleet needed you to bring a unit up to mission level and when some higher up found a better (closer to the politicaly sound) person you were sent to a differant ship to fill in another gap left by death or promotion (mostly death).
Making up his mind, James went to the comm room and sent the following:
From: Lieutenant James Flint jr
[indent]Current Pilot Call Sign: BAF-Flint
To: Adrimality, Bretonion Armed Forces
Subj: Awaiting Orders
Sir,
I am ready to report to a coheasive unit of your chosing and would be willing to take a loss in rank to have that happen. I find that being with such a unit would be better than any rank given to me. I understand that if accepted my transponder will be changed to BAF|James.Flint before launching
Signed
James Flint jr
