why the hell were they even given capships to begin with? That was a very poor choice in this mod's development.

Because the BH probably got tired of attacking places like Omicron Gamma in fighters and being destroyed by Capital ships. One time I was in gamma and I think three Core (or just generic BH) came into the system via Omega 41 and were quickly annihilated by something like 3 Legates, 2 Osiris BS's, 4 fighters, and probably 6 bombers. But I guess that's what you get for threatening the Corsair's home system!

But back on topic, it would be cool if the NPC battleships actually killed things (something on par with the magic-teleporting Nomad Battleships or angry Scorpion gunboats would be nice, I mean if anything less than a GB goes into Omega 55 and stays there for 5 minutes, chances are it isn't coming out in one piece). But that will just make people mad and will make it even harder for people who are starting out (well as long as the dev. team makes both the cap ship NPCs and normal fighter NPCs stronger).
