Out of roleplay for a corsair gunboat to be carrying cap ship armour?

its a yes and a no - as a matter of fact.

there is some thing like decency when it comes to the armour. - while it can most certainly be considered at the very least "strange" when a gunboat carries a capital ship armour type 8 - it is OK for it to carry something like a cap armour 5.

but then - compare it to fighters. - about every fighter has a U-armour 8 ... costs 15 millions. - however, most fighters cost only 3-6 million .. thats quite a ratio there, too.

now, a gunboat costs 20 million, caparmour 6 costs 50 million... a healthier ratio than on most fighters. - when being carried away though... one can also see gunboats with cap armour 8 - and thats 20 millions to 890 millions... something i d call rediculous. - however, not ooRP, since we do not put the armour upgrades down to roleplay.

battleships can of course use cap-armour 8, as they cost 750 millions + weapons ( usually around 800 - 850 millions ) ... so the armour is less than a 1 : 2 ratio to their base value.

its hard to say whats good and whats bad. - for most people its bad to loose a pvp. - especially when they claim that its cause the other one had the better equipment. - so everyone buffs himself up as much as he can - as long as its within the rules.

thats why some equipment is considered "generic" cause players cannot restrain themselves and consider some gear essential to win a pvp ( like supernovas, too ) - by the roleplay.... about every armour above 6 ( i think ) is order and allies only - but the outcry about unfairness would be great when it was suddenly factionized, and it wouldn t take a day, untill concepts for armours for every faction would pop up. - people do not like to play in unfair enviroments.
