Should RFP follow LPI in terms of ship use?

from an outsiders point of view - i d try not to limit players much on what they use... but ask them what they want to use. - if they all say, they want a bomber, another solution might be needed ( an assault by light fighters maybe - that rips them all apart )

a "healthy" balance from like 2/3 Phantoms and 1/3 bombers might be best. - the upcoming SHF is an alternative, but functions in a different way. its meant to be a long range patrol ship - not a quick response fighter class bomber.

so the SHF is meant to operate independly along the borders. its main function is to spot weaknesses, deal with minor threats and .. maintain the borders intact. - a bomber however is more ( or should be more ) a unit that scrambles when there is need for it ( like a capital ship - or a hardened transport )

there should be more fighters than bombers - but of course, the bomber as such is more powerful than most fighters. - the rheinland bomber is especially powerful, cause it has a large powercore and is one of the smallest bombers around.

so - if possible, i d try to really keep a 1 : 3 balance, might work to give the players a choice to either fly a fighter OR a bomber, but not both. - as a roleplayed char, i d expect a bomber to need a different training form a light fighter... so it would be funny if the same pilots piloted both. - and for the player, there is a real decision to make - does he want to be a bomberpilot for the faction or a fighterpilot ... but not both.
