Quote:What other duties might GMG patrols be interested in? Contraband of some sort? Expansion into neighboring systems? I know the GMG NPCs do raids on Omicron Beta.
To be honest, i'm not sure why the GMG NPC's are so interested in omicron beta... that part of the nebula has no h-fuel pockets as far as i know...
Anyhow, GMG are more of a combat-trader faction. You get to split your members up into both roles - around half or more should be flying GMG transports and taking H-fuel into house systems (not rheinland!). For return cargo they can bring back general goods like oxygen, food rations, mining equipment, water, etc.
The other part of the faction serves as both an escort force to the traders (GMG ships should always have one escort if possible), and also as a patrol force for sigma 13, sigma 17, sigma 19, and the area around aomori station in honshu. Primary tasks for the patrol group include destroying outcast/corsair pirates and defending gas miners. I dont think the GMG really cares about traders moving through their space if they arent causing trouble - even if they happen to be carrying contraband. They're more like the zoners in that "dont ask, dont tell" behavior regarding illegal activities that dont involve them.
The exception to this would be artifacts. GMG would want to hinder any artifact trade in their space. Basically, the corsairs used to bring artifacts to the GMG, then the GMG would act as a middleman and sell the artifacts to the hogosha, who would take them into kusari space. During vanilla FL times, the hogosha/corsairs started dealing directly between one another through luxury liner hawaii, and the GMG got pissed about being cut out.
